Description

The Dwarf Blue Hermit Crab (Clibanarius tricolor) is a small, colorful saltwater crab commonly found in the Caribbean. It has bright blue legs with dark bands and grows to about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in size. Like other hermit crabs, it does not have a hard shell of its own, so it lives inside empty snail shells for protection.

Care Information

  • Tank Size: 10+ gallons (saltwater aquarium)
  • Water Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)
  • Diet: Algae, leftover fish food, detritus, and small meaty foods
  • Behavior: Peaceful and reef-safe
  • Special Needs: Provide extra empty shells so they can change homes as they grow

Dwarf Blue Hermit Crabs are popular in reef tanks because they help clean algae and keep the aquarium tidy.
